Barcelona
How I ended up living this experience
|
Once I look back, things make a lot of sense, but this is how I ended up staying 8 months in Barcelona instead of 2.
On June 18th, 2014 along with my sister, Monica, embarked our first transatlantic journey heading to Barcelona, on a trip that would be with the sole purpose of exploring some of Europe, know our roots, and spend time with our older brother, Federico. A month and a half later I was taking an interview in Transperfect, to apply for an internship that would be my first formal job. My parents desired that I experienced a richer journey through my time here. Little did I know the process of transformation I would go through, and the experiences I would forever cherish in my heart. |
What I learnedTo live under a very strict budget and prioritize my necessities, although my necessities at the time where shoes and clothes hahaha.
Live without a private room, sometimes going from the couch on the living room to other people in the apartment room. Share apartment with 4 other people, 3 man, enough said. Learn how to cook, and prepare under 10 min lunches. How to wash my clothes. Basically, know how to separate whites and dark color clothes. Long distance relationship with boyfriend, and 12 hour difference. Be open to explore outside my comfort zone, even not really knowing what was my comfort zone. Other cities I visited |
The InternshipI was the contact between retail accounts such as Desigual, Pikolinos, Camper, Meliá Hotels, and the project managers for translations. I coordinated with the PM things like delivery dates, instructions sent by clients, and any special request.
I had the responsibility of creating cost estimates and keeping the monthly trackers up to date for each account. I worked with 'Project A' system in creating new accounts, adding new clients, inserting projects and opening and closing each month a new order as well as adding budget to the accounts. I also worked with 'Salesforce' online platform in adding new accounts, and clients as well as sending quick question emails and promotional sales to clients. I had the responsibility to send approx 800 mailers per week, and preparing the albarán orders. |
