It is very important for us to express what we are feeling at the moment of anger, sadness etc in order to convey our message completely.
I noticed that I have a need to control situations that many times are out of my hands, rather than relating with other people I'm worried things are not going as I planned to or how people should be acting or saying. According to the book I will learn to base things not on how things turn out but on whether I express my thoughts, feelings in each moment. Relating is not about convincing anyone that you are right it is about share learning and knowledge together for mutual understandings.
Focus on what you are experiencing right now so you are not trying to be in control of things.
Something that really struck me about this chapter was this following text "wouldn't you like to know, before your time on earth is up, how the world responds to your unique ideas, feelings, foibles and gifts? Or are you content just to give a good performance of the script you were given by society or your family?
Wow, that piece of text got me thinking how any time I could just vanish from this world, and probably wouldn't leave a mark in people's life or at least be remember for doing something in the world. How do we create a new society that supports being real, unique and open to surprise?
It is very cool that all of us are reading this book because how are going to change a culture with just a few who have read the book. And it was perfectly timed that at the beginning we read this book so the tips help us create a new culture where we can express what we think or feel without feeling guilty, ashamed, or angry. The process one goes trough to find out if they're doing things right is full of surprises, new discoveries and excitement that many times that would've been abolished if it was in a controlled system where everyone is expected to follow the rules and go with the flow rather than being authentic.
Being related rather than having full control of everything helps you develop skills to respond to unexpected events.
It got me thinking if the universe was friendly with me. As well as the author I gave myself an 8, and I'm just not sure why.
There will be times when having control over things is the only option because danger is in between, but you're not going to follow orders from someone you haven't communicate with and therefore you have to relate.
