If you want to see reality clearly and take action based on all available input, you must be able to hold differences- to maintain your own viewpoint while considering other people's views.
When you have differences it gives you a bigger circle around two or more competing views so you can see how they complement each other instead of looking at them as completely different and exclusive.
Many times we are so thrilled of having the reason or just to be right or win, that we loose the whole concept of having a discussion because the other person is trying to give his point and must of time we are thinking in our heads how his thought differs from ours, but never come to the similarities and share them. We need to accept diversity in some point of our lives if not it would be impossible to live with humans. Our differences and how we see the world is what we have to teach one another and learn how to go along with it. If you stay with the pain inside you probably there will be a breakthrough.
Paying attention builds a sense of intimacy or connection.
