MORNING MEETING
Today I feel asleep half an hour because the previous night I had trouble getting sleep so I was very tired and didn't hear the alarm at 6:00 am. So I apologized and I sent and inbox in facebook that I wasn't going to be able to arrive on time and be part of the morning meeting, I said that I was arriving at 7:30.
To my surprise Johann had trouble setting up the audio for the video so it took him a little bit more than the expected so I was able to be on time for the TED talk he shared with us. And I'm so glad I was able to watch it because it was an excellent talk and it even made me cry.

APOLLOGY
We started reading the apollogy by Plato and at first we discussed it very superficial and over the top.
Socrates is being accused for searching things under earth and heaven and being so curious. He finds this very unjust and says he will be speaking the truth unlike his persecutors and saying to his audience that they should look at him as a stranger, so they don't judge him before he speaks. He also warns that they should not be fooled by the eloquence of the other people but rather listen to what they need to say. Socrates has a reputation towards the children that have heard stories so that's why they can't listen to him as a stranger because they see them with eyes of judgement.
What we think we know, will be an obstacle for searching the truth.
The apollogy compares with Kant's essay where some other people influence in our thinking and don't let us think in our own.
Socrates is asking us what is a good teacher and explains us how the human mind works.

Visitor: Arne
Arne, a neuroscientist came to talk to us a little of what is he all about and to know what the MPC is.
His specialization is in creativity and consciousness. Creativity he says is a higher cognitive function that we don't share with the animal kingdom such as language and reason.
He explained to us that many universities are trying to connect humanities with sciences because many humanities careers are going down and many are studying for medicine or engineering. Humanities is very important because it grows the human knowledge.
Later on we talked about personality traits how culture influence like what food we like what are emotions would be or our fears. He explained that what controlls our emotions etc, is a piece of wire in our brain called the amigdala.
The only way to avoid this fears and things is to work on yourself.
What I found the most interesting of this dialogue was the possibility he gave us of controlling by technology how creative you are or how smart you can be. Also that with time and technology it will be possible to know who you are by a scan of the brain and also know your emotions. For now he says that our thoughts are private but not for long.
But how do we cross those limits? Who moves them? There will be a lot of struggle with moral and ethics.
What do we do with the knowledge because it can be dangerous.
This will be a very big thing if it's possible even more than the effects of the atomic bomb, because this will be inside of you.

DEBRIEF
We didn't had Programming because Kyle wasn't able to come, but we arrange to postpone the class for tomorrow after 3:00p.m. We talked about asking for a permission for staying after 11:00 p.m in the university just in case we need it one day.
Isa Moino, read a letter to call for a improvement of attitude towards the MPC, and debriefing where all of our feedback is given. Lately we've done terribly at receiving feedback or just debriefing in general, but I thought it was a great suggestion and I will do all my best to improve this and also be example for others.
We said that we should have a mailbox in the other headquarters, for depositing feedback to each one.
Bert acknowledged us for having a great dialogue in the Apollogy.
Majo and I had talked before that we don't really know our classmates but we just see them as classmates of the MPC, and know their abilities they demonstrate here, but we should get to know ourselves better, so we proposed to do it in the Agora.
Debriefing took more time than expected and we left around 7:15. It was a very nice and productive day but I hope tomorrow it will be better :)
